Victorian 18ct Gold Ring Set With Emerald & Diamonds

An interesting ring that dates from around 1860. This style of cutting was popular in the 19th Century and is the direct predecessor to the modern round Brilliant Cut. Colours of diamonds range from colourless, yellow, orange and brown to almost black. Natural coloured (or ‘fancy’) diamonds can be extremely rare. The cut, colour, clarity and carat weight of a diamond are the criteria jewellers use… with a further diamond on either side. In between the diamonds are two emeralds. There are two 18ct75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) gold bands that are joined at the top and at the back.
