Victorian 18ct Gold Long Drop Cameo Earrings Of Guardian Angels

A fabulous and impressive pair of 18ct75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) gold earrings. They are set with carved shell cameos that depict two guardian angels with babies in their arms with flowers above and eagles below. The tops are two classical ladies heads facing each other. They were made circa 1840- 1860. The cameos may well have been carved in Naples and then exported to England where gold mounts were added.
