A lovely 18ct75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) gold ring that was made circa 1880-1900. It has four well matched emeralds with two small diamonds between each one. The shankThe circle of metal that attaches to the decorative part of a ring and encircles the finger. is called a carved half hoop because of the scrollwork decoration to the sides. This was a popular design in the late 1800s. It would make a beautiful engagement or dress ring.
