A beautiful pair of 18ct75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) gold cufflinks that were made circa 1860-1880. Each link has been set with a cabochonA polished, not faceted, dome shaped stone – either round or oval with a flat polished base, primarily used as a cut for phenomenal stones such as cat’s eyes and stars.
cut banded onyxOnyx is an opaque black variety of polycrystalline chalcedony quartz. . They have a decorated beaded edging that is quite unusual. They are joined by figure of eight links that are typical of the early to mid VictorianJewellery made in the the Victorian era (1839-1901). period. A great gift for a special chap!
