Victorian 15ct Gold & Pink Enamel Heart Pendant With Pansy Set With Rose Diamonds

This is a very pretty heart shaped pendant that was made circa 1840. On the front is a pansy that has been set with individual small rose diamonds. The pansy is a pun on the French word for pansy and literally means “Pensè a moi” translating to “Think of me”. This motif was frequently used throughout this period, the Victorians were renowned for their secret messages in jewellery! There is a glazed locket to the reverse that likely once contained hair.
