Victorian 15ct Gold Banded Onyx Eternity Ring With Hidden Locket

An unusual ring that was made circa 1860. It has been set with oval cabochonA polished, not faceted, dome shaped stone – either round or oval with a flat polished base, primarily used as a cut for phenomenal stones such as cat’s eyes and stars.
cut banded onyxOnyx is an opaque black variety of polycrystalline chalcedony quartz.  in a complete circle. Inside is engraved “C A Died January 22nd 1866”. There is a tiny glazed locket for a lock of hair inside the shankThe circle of metal that attaches to the decorative part of a ring and encircles the finger.. It looks incredibly stylish when worn.
