We all love rivieres at AJC and this necklace is no exception. It was made circa 1820 in 9ct37.5% pure gold (or 375 parts pure gold and 625 parts other metals) gold and has been pinched collet set with foiled flat cut almandineA variety of red garnet that is transparent and commonly deep crimson with tinges of purple. Its colour can resemble that of ruby. It is cut in several forms; when cut en cabochon (usually as hollow cabochon to lighten the colour), it is called carbuncle. garnets. Every other one is larger with smaller garnets in between. There is a slight difference in the colours which add such charm. It is a warm and rich look when worn.
