A beautifully presented set of cufflinks, values and studs. The case is tooled leather over a wood base, and was retailed by Mappin and Webb, who had a Royal appointment status. The cufflinks, values and studs all have a typically decorative 9ct37.5% pure gold (or 375 parts pure gold and 625 parts other metals) gold edge with criss cross design, and criss cross knots in the centre to imitate values. The base is mother of pearlThe iridescent inner layer of certain molluscs such as oysters or abalones which is used as a decorative inlay. which adds a good contrast to the gold. This set is in excellent condition and would be an ideal gift.
