Edwardian 9ct Back & Front Octagonal Shaped Locket With Swallow Motif

A good looking 9ct37.5% pure gold (or 375 parts pure gold and 625 parts other metals) back and front locket. This means that the hinges and inner rims are metal for strength, and the back and the front of the locket are 9ct gold. It has been engraved with a swallow within branches of flowers on one side and flowers on the other. The swallow was considered daring, risk-seeking, and a symbol of change for good in the future. It also meant “Everlasting love” and “loyalty” as swallows mate for life.
