Edwardian 18ct Gold Harlequin Necklace Set With Aquamarine, Sapphires, Amethysts & Chrysoberyl

A really beautiful festoon harlequin necklace that was made circa 1900-1910. It has been set with a large aquamarineAquamarine (from the Latin, “water from the sea”) is a blue variety of the mineral, beryl, of which emerald is the less durable but more prized green variety. Aquamarine was believed to protect sailors at sea and banish fear. in the centre with three sapphires and two yellow sapphires, two amethysts and a chrysoberylA hard stone that ranges in colour from yellow, to brown, to green. Alexandrite and Cat’s Eye are both notable types of Chrysoberyl. at the bottom. The chrysoberyl is an amazing contrast as it is an autumnal green with orange brown flashes. It has a trace link chain with curved knife edge sections that link the gemstones. It is an incredibly beautiful and impressive look when worn.
