Early 20th Century Round Locket Set With A Sapphire & Diamonds

A strikingly beautiful round locket that was most likely made in Germany or Austria circa 1910-1920.  It has been set with a sapphireBlue is the best-known colour for this gemstone but it can be found in all colours of the spectrum. After diamond, sapphire is the hardest gemstone.
in the centre with four small diamonds around it.  It has an ornate anthemion and laurel leaf motif around the edge.  The Laurel is a sign of strength.  It is not only a symbol of honour and endurance, but also of peace, nobility and harmony. The reverse has a stylised monogram JRP. It opens to reveal two compartments for photographs
