A really striking 18ct gold and platinum ring that was made circa 1920. It has been claw set with a yellow zircon. Zircon is often mistaken for a diamond because of it’s high refraction. The name of this type of zircon is Jacinth which is a yellow variety. It is one of the oldest gemstones and the name goes back to biblical times before there were mineralogical classifications for gemstones. It is such an interesting stone and is surrounded by fourteen claw set well matched old mine cut diamonds with a further claw set oval old mine cut diamond set in to each of the shoulders.
It would make an amazing engagement or dress ring.
