Art Nouveau 14ct Gold Round Locket

A beautiful 14ct58.5% pure gold (or 585 parts pure gold to 415 parts other metals) gold heavy gage round locket that was made in the Art NouveauA movement within the arts, particularly jewellery, evolving out of a response to mass production and the industrial revolution (1890-1915). Jewellery of this period was heavily influenced by nature and femininity, with its sweeping lines and organic motifs. period in America circa 1900-1910. The front has repousse detail of stylised leaves in typical flowing forms that the Art Nouveau style propounded. Repousse is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief.  Inside are two compartments for photographs. This locket is as wearable today as it was over one hundred years ago
