A beautiful pair of platinumDerives from the Spanish word ‘platina’ meaning ‘little silver’. Acknowledged since the 1900s, platinum’s durability and natural brightness has been and still is today highly treasured A metallic element prized for its rarity, whiteness, high tensile strength and insusceptibility to corrosion, platinum first became widely used in jewellery in the late ninete… earrings that were made circa 1920-1930. They are set with French cut sapphires and good white diamonds. There is good attention to detail with fine millgrain work throughout. Millgrain decoration is the form of tiny bead shapes that are raised using a knurling tool and which add intricate detail and which give these earrings an elegant look. There are many copies around but these earrings are original.
