A lovely bead necklace which is well designed in ivory and brown coloured bakeliteA castable, fire resistant plastic that was invented by Leo Baekeland in 1909. It was originally used for industrial purposes until jewellery makers found that its light weight made the material a perfect choice for designing and manufacturing inexpensive jewellery. which is basically an early form of plastic. It was developed by Belgian-born chemist Leo Baekeland in New York in 1907.
