A striking pair of 14ct58.5% pure gold (or 585 parts pure gold to 415 parts other metals) gold drop earrings that were made circa 1920 in either Austria or Germany. They have been set with well matched white diamonds in scallop settings with millgrain detail. This is when the edges of the metal have been worked with a knurling tool to produce tiny beads, hence the French name “millgrain”, meaning a thousand beads. They look beautiful when worn.
