Harem rings are always sought after as they are easy to wear and look great. This one was most likely made in Austria or Germany circa 1920. It is set with sapphires, old mine cutAn 18th, 19th and early 20th century diamond shape, typically cushion or asymmetrical, marked by a small table, a high crown and a large culet. Culets are the small flat facets at the bottom of a stone which appear to the untrained eye as a hole in the middle of the stone. Before the advent of modern machinery which allows for the precise faceting we see tod… diamonds, rose diamonds, rubies and emeralds. “Harem rings”, have always served as a very unique style of engagement ring or wedding ring over the years. Traditionally, they are fashioned from anywhere between two and twelve separate rings, woven together to made one larger ring. This ring is based on a Harem style but the bands are fixed which is more practical to wear.
